Dreamhost is currently looking into some networking issues in their Irvine, CA datacenter. If your site is down now, that is likely the cause. Their network admins are already investigating the issue and hope to have it back ASAP. We will update this status post shortly with an ETA on when we expect it to be resolved.

The new server is up and running and all of your domain files have already been moved. We will be moving the databases over the weekend starting at 12 midnight tonight so the transition should be complete before Monday.

We are very happy to announce that we will be migrating all of our client domains hosted on Dreamhost’s shared VPS system over to a much faster, more rock solid dedicated server. This upgrade will take place free of charge for our existing customers and should bring and slew of performance and stability improvements. We do not anticipate any downtime during the move, but as we all know, even the best laid plans sometimes go awry. Should you notice any issues with your site after or during the migration (which we will start in the next week or so after we have done some internal testing) please let us know and we will address the issues quickly and free of charge.
The specs for the new server are as follows:

This amounts to more than twice the power your website currently has AND has the added benefit of not having to share a server with hundreds of other Dreamhost customers (which alone should make for a much more reliable service). Follow this site for updates!

Mindshare Studios’ Status update service was forced to change its domain name when a brandjacker stole our domain, mindsharestatus.com, out from under us! This occurred because WordPress.com’s domain add-on service failed to properly re-bill our account when it was time to renew the domain this year so it expired without our knowledge or consent. We have been working with WordPress.com to regain control of our domain but it appears that we will need to wait until the new registration expires.
So, long story short… the new URL is now simply: http://mindsharestatus.wordpress.com
The URL is now being used by some bogus company out of Taiwan.
Some WordPress CMS users will notice that the CSS (visual rendering) on their site’s dashboard screens and administrative areas are no longer rendering quite right since WordPress version 3.2. We are working on a fix for these issues now – please note that these bugs should not effect the proper functioning of your sites and they are aesthetic only. Fixes will be rolled out automatically once they are ready.
Several of our clients WordPress websites that were not fully up-to-date with the latest security patches and updates have been targeted by hackers. If your site is running WordPress please be sure that it is fully updated with the latest version! This is essential for you safety and the safety of those visiting your website. Dreamhost is currently looking into an issue that is affecting service for some of our VPS domains. We’ll post updates as we have them.
UPDATE: The issues appear to have been resolved after 20 minutes of downtime.
Our Dreamhost server is experiencing some very erratic usage spikes this morning. A reboot has at least temporarily fixed the problem. We will continue to monitor the server to make sure the issue is fixed. Please report any issues.
UPDATE: This issue is persisting and may be related to a DDoS (denial of service) attack that Dreamhost was experiencing since late last night. Will post updates here while we get this sorted out.
UPDATE: Dreamhost has determined that there was a connectivity issue with the database server – not a DDoS attack – and the issue has been resolved. Please let us know if you experience any further problems!
